CHICO, Calif. - A woman was arrested after she ran from a police officer and assaulted the officer Monday morning, Chico Police Department said.

Police received a report at 2:29 a.m. that a woman, 23-year-old Sequoia Daub, threatened to stab hotel staff at the Double Tree Hotel and refused to leave.

When an officer arrived, Daub was outside the hotel property and ran away when the officer tried to speak with Daub.

The officer chased Daub and caught up with her at Cohasset Road and Mangrove Ave.

When the officer attempted to detain Daub, she ripped part of the radio off the officer’s uniform and pulled the officer’s hair.

Daub then attempted to gouge the officer’s eye but her thumb ended up in the officer’s mouth. Daub bit the officer in the arm and continued to pull the officer’s hair.

More officers arrived at the scene and Daub was put in handcuffs.

The officer sustained abrasions and bruises from the assault and was able to complete her shift.

Daub was booked into the Butte County Jail for violations of assault on a police officer and resisting an executive officer.
