Winter weather school closures in the North State

Impacts from this strong winter storm are being felt across the North State.

Castle Rock Elementary School in the Shasta County town of Castella will be closed Thursday due to winter weather.

Lindsey Hines, an administrative assistant with the Castle Rock Union Elementary School District, tells Action News Now the closure is due to tough driving conditions.

In Butte County, Berry Creek Elementary School will be closed Thursday morning due to a power outage. The school will be closed Friday due to a snow day. 

Several schools will also close across Siskiyou County. Here is a list of schools closed:
McCloud High school
Dunsmuir High School
Mount Shasta High School
Mount Shasta Elementary
Sisson School

Weed High School will be open Thursday.

The first of two storms moved over northern California late last night and this morning, but our weather has quieted for now. More rain showers will fall Saturday, but heavier rain and snow with stronger wind arrives Sunday.
