PG&E crews are on the ridge trying to figure out what caused an unscheduled outage that lasted nearly 24 hours. People in the area had power restored late Wednesday afternoon. This unplanned outage happened just a few hours after PG&E crews finished restoring power from the scheduled public safety power shutoff.
The US economy in the summer recovered much of the historically enormous ground it lost in the spring, expanding at the fastest rate on record in the third quarter, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. Still, the recovery remains incomplete. The economic crisis that Covid-19 brought on is far from over, and the pandemic threatens to plunge the American economy into turmoil again as infection numbers continue to rise rapidly across the country. The third quarter, however, was one for the record books.
The U.S. is breaking another record in the coronavirus pandemic. The U.S. reported over 80,000 cases Wednesday. It is the third record-breaking number in less than a week. Experts say the new surge in cases can be blamed on people letting down their guards and colder weather pushing many indoors where the virus spreads faster.
With less than a week until election day, the presidential candidates are both holding rallies on the same day in Tampa, Florida. Later in the day, the president will also travel to North Carolina this afternoon for a rally. Democratic nominee, Joe Biden will hold two drive-in rallies in Tampa.
