Rolling Hills Casino to reopen with safety-measures in place

Happening today, the Rolling Hills Casino is set to open at 10 a.m. The Paskenta Band of the Nomlaki closed the casino on March 17 due to coronavirus safety concerns. Action News Now reporter Vanessa Romo will be on site later tonight will all the updates on how the casino is adjusting safety regulations to make opening possible.

Oroville City Council to host special meeting Thursday

The Oroville City Council is holding a special meeting Thursday with members set to meet with labor negotiators representing several public safety units. City of Chico plans to appeal virtual learning at Chico State

Chico city leaders are making an appeal to bring Chico State students back to campus this fall. Last week, the California State University Chancellor announced all 23 campuses of the Cal State system would move online for the fall semester. City council members are concerned about the financial impact of not having students on campus.

Paradise Unified School District held emergency school board meeting for graduation

What will graduation look like for some seniors on the ridge? The Paradise Unified School District Board met Wednesday night to decide between two plans for high school graduation. The first "plan A" would have allowed students to walk across the stage. But despite limits in guests and changes to the ceremony -- Butte County Public Health said the plan would violate current health guidelines and chose plan B.

Unemployment report to roll in on Friday

How are our state's labor market faring during this coronavirus crisis and economic slowdown? Tomorrow -- as the California Employment Development Department is set to release its most recent numbers. However as of March, the last full month of the state-wide tabulations. California's unemployment rate hit 5.3%, up from 3.9% in February with the loss of 99-thousand-500 non-farm jobs.

At least three people injured in shooting at Arizona shopping complex, police say

Two people are recovering and another in critical condition after a shooting near a popular mall. A shooter opened fire Wednesday night at the Westgate entertainment district in Glendale Arizona. Cell phone video captures the moment’s police and emergency responders rushed to the scene. Police say before the shooting, the gunman uploaded a video to snap-chat showing his gun and saying he would be "the shooter of Westgate 2020.”

Trump vents as more states move to expand vote-by-mail ahead of November election

President Trump threatened to withhold federal funding from Nevada and Michigan for allowing residents to mail in their votes. Congress may take up that mail vote issue as well as money for the postal service in democrats' $3 trillion coronavirus stimulus.
