CAL FIRE has released its findings in a 6-month investigation into the cause of the Camp Fire. CAL FIRE said the state's most destructive wildfire, which wiped out several butte county communities, killed 85 people and destroyed over 18,000 structures was caused by PG&E electrical transmission lines.
CEO of PG&E attends committee hearing on PG&E management
The CEO of PG&E, Bill Williams, attended a committee hearing on PG&E management at the state capitol Wednesday. He addressed concerns that the price of wildfires will be put onto customers through rate hikes. PG&E just received a $3.50 per month rate increase approved in April.

CAL FIRE Butte County worked to extinguish an escaped control burn in Cohasset Wednesday. The fire grew to around 50 by 100 feet and affected an abandoned structure. Fire crews are now speaking out, saying that as of May 1, burn permits are required and people will be held responsible if fire escapes control.
A Chico man is facing a life sentence for the murder of his own mother. The Butte County District Attorney has announced Alton Facciuto is guilty of the January 18 killing of Sherry Facciuto. In April, he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
North State man sentenced to 7 years for burglary, assault
A North State man will spend seven years behind bars for burglary and assaulting homeowners and a police officer. Redding police said Tyrone Hill crashed into two cars and a light pole on Vega Street, on May 1. He then entered a home and attacked a homeowner and later, an officer.
Chico police arrest burglary suspect
Chico police chased down and arrested a suspect in a car burglary Wednesday afternoon. Officers said they got a call saying that a man broke into a car in the Kmart parking lot. Police arrived and chased the suspect to the Lindo Channel where they arrested Robert Gonzales.

President Trump is set to unveil a sweeping new immigration proposal Thursday. The administration said it will emphasize skills and education instead of family. The proposal also outlines the border wall completion in 33 designated areas and scanning improvements at ports of entry.
