Suspect arrested after high-speed chase in Redding

Redding police arrested a wanted felon after a wild, high-speed chase. Officers said Telena McCovey is now behind bars after ramming into a California Highway Patrol vehicle and threatening officers with a large knife. McCovey already had two felony warrants and now faces additional charges of felony evading and assault with a deadly weapon. 

Deputies seized thousands of plants in Big Spring illegal drug bust

The Siskiyou County Sheriff's office last week alone rounded up over 4,000 plants in the Big Springs Area. The value of the illegal retail drug market is equal to an estimated at $27.9-$41.9 million. Soldiers from the California Army National Guard's Counter-Drug Unit also took part in the operation.

Traffic alert: Road 99 construction causes delays in Glenn County

Motorists can expect up to 30-minute delays on Road 99, west from Willows to the Colusa County line. Glenn County road crews will be chip-sealing, which is a type of asphalt repair. The work will be happening Tuesday through Thursday of this week. The sheriff's office recommends taking alternate routes.

CAL FIRE crews battled vegetation fire south of Cohasset Road Monday

High temperatures are causing increased fire danger. CAL FIRE crews battled a vegetation fire Monday, just south of Cohasset Road. The flames were reported in the area of Ponderosa Way and Cohasset Road at around noon. Firefighters got it under control quickly, but not before it charred four acres. Investigators are still working to determine the cause. 

Crews fully contain West Butte Fire in Sutter County

CAL FIRE crews fully contained the West Butte Fire, which was burning northeast of Colusa in Sutter County. That fire grew to around 1,000 acres near North Butte Road and West Butte Road. It started on Saturday evening. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Sand Fire burns 2,220 acres, evacuations lifted

The Sand Fire in Yolo County has ripped through more than 2,200 hundred acres and it is 60% contained as of Tuesday morning. This wildfire is burning northwest of Sacramento. Weather in the area Tuesday is expected to be hotter with gusty winds up to 20 miles per hour.
