2 arrested on child endangerment, pot charges

A man and woman were arrested this weekend for endangering a child with pot. During a probation compliance check of a hotel room, Anderson police found Fawn Watkins, along with Michael Houchins and a child. A search of the room turned up over 12 pounds of pot. Officers arrested the two and the child was taken into protective custody.

Chico Street Crimes Unit: 5 arrests made in week 8 

Week eight and the Chico Police Department's specialized Street Crimes Unit is not slowing down. The goal of the specialized unit is to crack down on quality of life crimes which include robbery, bike and property theft, and drug offenses. So far this summer, officers have arrested 119 people.

Traffic alert: Construction causes delays on Highway 299 

Motorists should expect up to 15-minute traffic delays this week on Highway 299 between Burney and Fall River Mills. The delay is due to a pavement maintenance project. The work will be underway Monday through Friday, until the end of September. 

Lower Lake Fire damages 2 structures in Lake County

A wildfire damaged two structures in lake county. It started just before 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon near Highway 29 and Highway 53 in Lake County. Winds pushed the flames across six acres and threatened homes before firefighters were able to stop the flames from spreading. Police shut down the intersection while crews fought the fire on the ground and from the air. The fire is now fully contained.

Crews battling Mariposa Fire near Yosemite National Park

An out-of-control grass fire in ripped through 155 acres in Mariposa County. The fire started around noon on Sunday near Old Highway Road and Guadalupe Mountain Road, southwest of Yosemite National Park. CAL FIRE says the fire is 80% contained. There are 10 engines, multiple aircraft, and bulldozers on scene.
