Head Central Valley wrestling coach arrested for statutory rape

Shasta County Deputies arrested 27-year-old Stephen Reed, Thursday. Deputies said he admitted to sexually assaulting a female student; he's now charged with statutory rape. Reed is the head wrestling coach at Central Valley High School in the City of Shasta Lake investigators believe there may be more victims...and are asking those individuals to contact them.

Deputies arrest man for killing canine and starting vehicle fire

Shasta County Deputies arrested a man they say killed a family dog and lit a car on fire after a fight with his step farther. Investigators say this happened Thursday morning on majestic view drive in Anderson. He is facing charges for arson, animal cruelty, and malicious mutilation of an animal.

Sheriff: Man arrested for stolen vehicle in Cottonwood

Shasta County Sheriff Deputies arrested Travis Ryan with the help of a police K-9. Deputies said they spotted Ryan driving an SUV at a Chevron gas station, which matched the description of one stolen out of Redding. Ryan is now charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.

Regulators boost PG&E's wildfire fine to $2.1 billion

The California Public Utilities Commission has fined PG&E $2.1 billion over deadly wildfires in the state. This -- on top of the 1.7 billion settlement announced in December. 200 million of it will be earmarked for people who lost family or property in those wildfires.

Basic Wildland Firefighter training classes offered

The Shasta Lake Ranger District is offering two basic wildland firefighter training classes next month and once finishing the course you may be able to work on calls with the U.S. Forest Service. Anyone 16 or older can apply, the deadline is Sunday, March 1. To learn more, CLICK HERE.

Northern California city at epicenter of coronavirus mystery

Investigators are now working to retrace the steps of the Vacaville woman who tested positive for the coronavirus. She had not traveled or been in contact with anyone infected. The patient is at U.C. Davis Medical Center and doctors there say they are taking precautions to minimize the threat of exposure to staff and patients.

Coming up this weekend; South Caroline primary

A packed day ahead for the Democratic Party hopefuls, trying to win voters in South Carolina. Their state's primary is Saturday. The majority of the party's candidates have a long list of scheduled events across the state, while others are fanning out to other states in preparation for Super Tuesday.
