New variants of COVID-19 have appeared in 42 states, one of those comes from Humboldt County. Public Health officials said they discovered a new variant during what they call, routine genomic surveillance. Right now, it appears to be confined to a single outbreak among staff and residents at Granada Rehabilitation and Wellness Facility in Eureka.
A second dose clinic with the Enloe Medical Center will take place today. Appointments are required for the Meriam Park site. The first dose clinic happened in late January. People 65 and older, along with those who have received the first doses, are eligible for today's clinic. Health officials said you must bring your vaccination card if you have an appointment.
