Driver hospitalized after crashing off of Chico bridge

The California Highway Patrol says a driver is hospitalized after crashing off a bridge in Chico. It happened just after midnight on Nord Highway and Hosler Avenue. Officers say the driver hit a guard rail and overturned, falling into the creek. The California Highway Patrol says the driver is expected to be OK but may now be facing some charges. Officers have not revealed what those charges are.

Bernie Sanders announces bid for 2020 Presidential Election

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has announced his bid for the 2020 presidential election. This will be Sanders' second consecutive bid for the Democratic nomination. He lost to Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Corning police arrest man in stabbing incident outside restaurant

Corning police arrested Juan Hernandez for stabbing Alfred Velasquez outside of the La Hacienda Restaurant on Solano Street Sunday night. Police say it started when Velasquez punched Hernandez in the face, breaking his nose, while the two ate inside.

Shasta County District Attorney warns of contractor scams

The Shasta County District Attorney is warning about contractor scams after damage from the storms. The district attorney encourages people to protect themselves by verifying that a person is licensed and resist high-pressure sales. Call the Shasta County District Attorney to report any suspected scams.

Chico City Council to meet Tuesday night

The Chico City Council will be taking up a host of issues at Tuesday night's meeting. Members will discuss making warming centers permanent, re-establishing 24-hour public bathrooms, declaring a climate emergency, bicycle locker rental fees and the findings of the commercial cannabis citizen's advisory committee. 

Oroville City Council to meet Tuesday night

The Oroville City Council will also meet Tuesday to talk about rent control, establishing a downtown business improvement district, and the status of the city's current utility tax.

Red Bluff City Council to meet Tuesday night

The Red Bluff City Council will vote on whether to support a Community Development Block Grant to fund the Navigation Center homeless shelter on Vista Way.

Wife of accused 'Golden State Killer' plans to file for divorce, can now testify

The wife of the accused "Golden State Killer," Joseph Deangelo, plans to file for divorce. This will allow her to testify against him during his trial. He is accused of 13 murders and 50 rapes in California decades ago.
