Deliberations are underway in what could be a long day of debate over whether to vote to impeach President Trump. If the house votes yes to impeachment, President Trump would become the third president in U.S. history to be impeached.
PG&E, California wildfire victims rework $13.5B settlement, other settlements approved
PG&E is moving forward with its proposed settlement plan for California wildfires. A federal bankruptcy judge has approved two Pacific Gas & Electric settlements totaling $24.5 billion. However, PG&E must still sway Governor Gavin Newsom to accept the settlement. He rejected the original plan saying it did not comply with state law on Friday.
6 indicted for falsely claiming benefits for properties destroyed in Camp Fire
Six people are looking at years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines for Camp Fire related fraud. The U.S. Attorney's Office said the six falsely claimed disaster benefits of more than $50,000. The six claimed their homes had been destroyed in the Camp Fire. But prosecutors said all had homes in other communities.
Oroville Union High attendance falls behind
A new report shows schools in Oroville are struggling with chronic absenteeism. That means a student is not attending at least 10% of the school year. The California Department of Education reports that in Oroville, that number is 26% of students. By comparison, the Chico Unified School District's absentee rate is less than 9%.
Police say kidnapping incident in Red Bluff was a hoax
Police said a reported kidnapping incident out of Red Bluff was a hoax. Investigators said despite the school district sending out a warning advising parents of the situation at Jackson Heights Elementary, there is no threat to students.
Local land trust receives funding for conservation
A regional land trust designed to protect and conserve agricultural lands and open spaces from development is getting a big financial boost. It's now one of a handful of such agencies the California Strategic Growth Council is awarding $57 million, statewide, for conservation efforts. The new funding allows for the protection of more than 20,000 acres.
