New Mandatory Evacuations for Mendocino Complex

The Mendocino Fire is 314,925 acres and 64 percent contained. Parts of southwest Glenn County are being told to evacuate this morning. This is the fourth county the fire is impacting. The west boundary of the Lake County line to the Mendocino National Forest is under a mandatory order.
A Utah firefighter killed Monday has been identified as 42-year-old Battalion Chief Matthew Burchett.
Cal Fire says he was killed by a falling tree.

The Hirz Fire Grows in Size

The Hirz Fire, burning in Shasta-Trinity Forest, grew to approximately 7,321 acres as of this morning. It is five percent contained. Firefighters continue to work on containment lines to the north and west. Forest service officials say the fire is burning in extremely steep and rugged terrain west of Gilman Road near the McCloud arm of Shasta Lake. Please avoid Gilman Road, east of Interstate 5.

Carr Fire Controlled Burns Continue

The Carr Fire burning in Shasta and Trinity Counties is 211,038 and 67 percent contained. Cal Fire is conducting control burns along the northeast side of the fire, near Lake Head. Evacuations are now lifted for the Rainbow Lake area.

Free Health Fair

Ampla Health is hosting free health fairs in honor of National Health Center Week.
Attendees can get free health screenings and other services.
Wednesday's event is at their Gridley office. On Thursday, the fair will be set up at their office in Orland.

Esplanade Construction Work

Construction work is underway at East 8th and The Esplanade in Chico.
The project includes creating a system that will connect traffic lights with emergency vehicles. This will allow first responders to have a clear path through The Esplanade. The work is expected to be completed by this fall.
