Sacramento Costco evacuated late Aug. 8
After the recent mass shootings, many people remain on edge. A Sacramento Costco was evacuated Thursday night after police got a report of a man with a gun in the store. Officers responded around 7:30 p.m.
As a precaution, the Arden-Arcade area store was evacuated but police said they did not find anyone that was armed.
The Butte County Sheriff's office has confirmed the loss of the 86th person from the Camp Fire. Paul Ernest passed away after his burns left him with medical complications. Of the 86 fatalities, 81 have been positively identified, four have been tentatively identified, and nine months later two remain unknown.
Congress will not call for a special session to vote on gun laws
Despite calls for stricter gun laws following the series of mass shootings that left dozens of people dead across the country, Congress is has decided against calling a special session to vote on legislation. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said instead he is asking lawmakers to start informal talks this month so they will be ready to vote in September.
Nearly 700 people were detained during an ICE raid that targeted food processing plants in Mississippi. Officials are calling it the largest single-state immigration enforcement operation ever in the United States. Now there are questions of what will happen to the kids of those arrested, many of whom were placed with volunteers and strangers.
