Red flag warning in place for Siskiyou and Modoc Counties

A red flag warning is in place for Siskiyou and Modoc Counties, Action News Now is continuing to monitor the latest updates.

Tucker Fire is at 95% containment

In the Modoc national forest, firefighters are closing in on the Tucker Fire. The fire is now at 95% containment and has scorched more than 14,000 acres.

32 Willow Fire is at 106 acres

In Lassen County, CAL FIRE is battling the 32 Willow Fire. This fire broke out Wednesday evening, Aug. 7 nine miles southeast of Fall River Mills, near the Shasta County line. So far, CAL FIRE is not issuing any evacuations or reporting any structures threatened. The fire did grow overnight and is now at 106 acres.

Redding fire behind Lowes on Cypress Ave.

Redding was also called out to a fire that started late Aug. 7, just after 10 p.m. in a vacant field behind Lowes on Cypress Ave. The fire burned two acres and did not damage any structures.

Camp Fire Burn Victim has died from health complications

There has been another death from the Camp Fire. 72-year-old Paul Ernest was recovering in the hospital from burn injuries, he passed away Monday, Aug. 5 from health complications. Officially 85 people were killed in the Camp Fire.

Man arrested after deadly stabbing in Southern California

A man is now behind bars after going on a deadly stabbing rampage killing four people and injuring two others. The stabbing happened in Southern California community of Garden Grove. The suspect's identity has not yet been released. The two people injured are in stable condition.

Siskiyou County man placed in protective custody for suspected online threats

A man is behind bars after deputies said he posted a threatening message on social media. The Siskiyou County Sheriff's office said the person's message idolized the gunmen in recent mass shootings and hoped a shooting would occur in Siskiyou County. When deputies took the 22-year-old man into custody they found three guns in the home where he lives with his parents in McCloud.

Needle Distribution Proposal

The North Valley Harm Reduction Coalition is reacting to information put out by Chico Police on a needle distribution program. Cheif Mike O'Brien spoke out about his concerns on needle litter and the proximity to Chapman Elementary School and Community Park. The coalition said there is no evidence showing that a program like this would increase syringe litter.

Over 700 people in Mississippi are being detained by immigration and customs enforcement officials

Officials in Mississippi said their operation that took 11 months of planning, and more than 600 special agents. The workers without criminal records or orders of deportations will be placed in immigration proceedings before a judge and may be released.

President Trump promises action on gun control

After visiting the sites of mass shootings in Dayton and El Paso, President Trump is promising action on gun control. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have proposed policies aimed and preventing shootings. Including a red flag bill that would allow authorities to seize weapons from people deemed a threat, others have pushed for a ban on assault weapons.
