Additional measles case confirmed in Butte County

there is now a sixth case of measles in Butte County. The most recent areas of exposure are the Chipotle on Mangrove Avenue and the Cinemark Theatre on East Avenue in Chico. The potential exposure time was last Sunday afternoon, March 31. We have a list of potential exposure locations in this link

Assemblyman Gallagher to introduce legislation to speed up Butte County housing projects

Assemblyman James Gallagher will introduce legislation to help speed up housing projects in Butte County. The legislation will be introduced at the natural resources committee in the state capitol at 2:30 p.m. Assemblyman Gallagher is inviting anyone in support of the bill to attend, in hopes of pushing the bill through. 

New details emerge in 2017 murder of Chico father

Two years since the body of a 28-year-old father was found in Chico, his mother says new evidence points to the killer. Sheriff's deputies found Joseph Strickland's body behind an abandoned silo near Chico River Road and Tafee Avenue. 

Authorities investigating Chico house fire

Chico Fire is investigating a house fire that broke out at a home in the 1100 block Ivy Street in Chico around 12:30 a.m. Firefighters knocked it down quickly and there were no injuries.

Manhunt underway for Orland bank robbery suspect

Police are on the hunt for an Orland bank robbery suspect. Authorities have a photo of the suspect, Kenneth Meza, as well as the truck they believe he is driving. He is wanted for the robbery of the Redding Bank of Commerce two weeks ago. Police said he has not been seen since the robbery. 

Shasta County cemeteries set to reopen after storm damage

Two Shasta County cemeteries are set to open following weeks of storm damage clean up. The Whiskeytown and Cottonwood cemeteries have been closed since early March due to fallen trees and branches  California Conservation Corps helped in the cleanup.

Department of Water Resources tests Oroville Dam Spillway power

The Department of Water Resources is testing the Oroville Dam Spillway's power. The department shut down releases from the Hyatt Powerplant to ramp up releases from the main spillway Sunday morning. Authorities said this change will not impact the Feather River.
