Heavy rain causes flooding, school closures in Chico

Heavy rain during Tuesday's thunderstorm in Chico caused flooding, damage to buildings and a school closure. Chico Junior High is closed for classes today, but the school is making classrooms available for kids that need supervision during the day.

Man crashes into car, 2 dump trucks Tuesday night

Police say a man driving a white van hit a car on West Sacramento Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Then, police said he tried to take off on Nord Avenue, before crashing into two dump trucks at the 76 gas station. No one was injured in the crash.

Having rain causes roof collapse at Woodstock's Pizza in Chico 

Heavy rain Tuesday night caused the ceiling to collapse at Woodstock's Pizza. Workers on scene said the building's gutters were likely clogged, causing a build-up of water. They believe that led to a leak in the roof and are now working to clear out that water.

Shasta County Sheriff's Office investigating deadly officer-involved shooting

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly encounter with Redding police. Officers said they shot a man during a struggle Tuesday afternoon in the area of Shasta View Drive and Hemingway Street. Neighbors reported the man had a gun in his waistband and had been watching children.

Humboldt County Sheriff's Office investigating human skeletal remains found Friday 

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains near the junction of Blue Lake Boulevard and Maple Creek Road Friday night. The sheriff's office said there is no evidence of foul play. The coroner is working to identify the remains. 

First responders attend pediatric disaster response training in Redding

On Wednesday, first responders will be attending a pediatric disaster response training at Mercy Medical in Redding. The training will focus on everything from how to shelter children in disasters like a mass shooting situation to transporting babies in the middle of a wildfire.

Anderson police searching for armed robbery suspect

Anderson police are on the hunt for an armed robber. Surveillance footage was taken at the Safeway gas station off Balls Ferry Road on March 30. Police said the suspect is a Hispanic man who may be driving a mid-size pickup truck. Anyone with information is asked to call the Anderson Police Department.
