Chico police investigating car found in Sycamore Pool

Police are investigating a car found in Sycamore Pool in Bidwell Park early Tuesday morning. The car was found facing away from the parking lot. Dive teams searched the car and no one was found inside. We are working to learn more information. 

Missing father, 2 children found by Good Samaritan

A missing father and his two children are back home and safe in Butte County. The family members were reported missing when they failed to return from a trip to Stirling City. The sheriff's office says a local person happened to spot Michael Mercado and his sons around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday morning and drove them all home.

Redding City Council to vote on whether to remain in local state of emergency due to Carr Fire

The Redding City Council is set to vote on whether to remain in a local state of emergency after the Carr Fire. The change would mean that the city will no longer have an expedited process when making repairs.

Chico City Council to discuss budget, housing projects, price gouging, cannabis committee

Tuesday night, the Chico City Council will be talking about a host of issues. That includes the proposed budget, Assemblyman James Gallagher's proposed bill to speed up housing projects in Butte County, an ordinance to prohibit price gouging in Chico during and after an emergency will be introduced, and the new cannabis advisory committee will be finalized. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the city council chambers. 

President of California Public Utilities Commission skeptical about PG&E safety promises

On Monday, the president of the California Public Utilities Commission said he is skeptical about PG&E's promises to instill a culture of safety in the company despite changes to PG&E's leadership. Ten of PG&E's 13 board members were replaced last month.
