Anger over Chico Sit-and-Lie Ordinance
The Chico City Council voted to send the controversial “Sit and Lie” ordinance to the city attorney for further review. It would ban people from sleeping outside. The issue could be overturned due to a decision by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which determined it unconstitutional to ban people from sleeping outside when a shelter is not available.


Investigation for Cause of Death for Man Found Deceased in Yuba River
The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of 27-year-old John Fants of Yuba City. His body was found on the bank of the Yuba River in Marysville near the Simpson Lane Bridge Saturday. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week to determine how he died.


One Dead after Redding Plane Crashes in Bay Area
A pilot is dead and a mother is hospitalized after a plane from Redding crashed in the Bay Area. Action News Now is learning that the flight was an angel flight “free medical transportation” mission taking the girl to a planned surgery in Palo Alto. The pilot is only identified as a man in his 60s. The woman and her daughter are recovering at the Stanford Trauma Center.


Build.com Expands Office and Staff in Chico
Build.com is expanding to a second office building at Meriam Park on East 20th Street. It is one of Chico’s private employers. The locally funded multi-million dollar company is also expanding to the East Coast.


El Dorado County Fire Prompts Evacuations
Evacuations are underway northwest of Georgetown near the El Dorado County, Placer County line. Cal Fire says the Slinger Fire is 75 acres and 20 percent contained as of Wednesday morning. The cause is under investigation.


Hirz Fire Latest
The Hirz Fire burning about 20 miles northeast of Redding is 46,000 acres and 70 percent contained.


Blood Drive at Chico State
On Wednesday, Blood Source is hosting its monthly blood drive at Chico State, it will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
