One is Dead, One is Injured in Fatal Head-on Crash

One is dead and one is injured after a fatal head-on crash on Highway 99 near Richvale. The northbound lane of the highway was closed from Highway 162 to Cottonwood, but has since reopened. One person was airlifted to Enloe Medical Center while a second person involved was killed at the scene. Action News Now is still working to confirm the identities of the parties involved, and the status of the person at Enloe Medical Center. 

Delta Fire Update

The Delta Fire is now 47,110 acres at 5 percent contained. Caltrans announced today that I-5 has reopened as of 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 10. Restrictions are in place due to the Delta Fire. A public meeting is schedule for tonight at 6 p.m. at the Trinity Center Community Hall. They will be discussing the Hirz and Delta Fires. 

Kerlin Fire Update 

The Kerlin Fire burning west of Hyampom in Trinity County is now 1,668 acres and 20 percent contained. The previous mandatory evacuations are now downgraded to advisories. 

Hirz Fire Update

The Hirz Fire is now 46,150 acres and 95 percent contained. A public meeting for the Delta and Hirz Fires will take place on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the Trinity Center Community (IOOF) Hall at 20 Scott Boulevard, Trinity Center. Fire officials will give an overview of current and expected fire conditions followed by a question and answer session.

City of Redding Announces New Air Travel Option

Redding city leaders are scheduled to announce plans for another major travel option from the North State to Southern Californa. United Airlines will be offering one non-stop daily flight to Los Angeles starting next March. 

Body Found in Gridley Saturday Morning

Gridley Police are investigating a body found Saturday morning. It happened at 499 Hazel Street just after 5 a.m. Action News Now reached out to neighbors who say they believe the man to be a transient who frequented the area.
