Investigators in Butte County are working to learn how Robert Gonzalez died. He was missing for a week before his body was found in a canyon in the Concow area on Monday. Investigators are working to find out if marijuana found on the property he was staying on was connected.
A Shasta CountySheriff's K-9 tracked down the suspect in a high-speed chase overnight. Authorities day Brett Crosslin led deputies on a chase from Cottonwood to Tehema County. It happened at around midnight. They say he drove through a dry creek bed on Bowman Road. He then hit a closed gate and fled on foot. A K-9 found him hiding under brush.
Legislation to Expand Naloxone Programs for First Responders
New legislation is on President Trump's desk this morning. It would expand programs that provide Naloxone to first responders. Chico police say the nasal spray is available over the counter and it saves the life of someone overdosing on opioids.
Health and Wildlife Officials are testing to see if a chemical spill in the Trinity River is harmful to the community. Pesicides from a nearby marijuana grow may have spilled in the Burnt Ranch area. The U.S. Forest Service says one of their K-9s became sick and a squirrel was found dead. No humans have gotten sick.
Mobile Crisis Unit Underway for Butte County Sheriff's Office
Work is underway to get a mobile crisis unit for the Butte County Sheriff's Office. The Chico Police Department has had a unit since April. Since then, behavior health counselors have worked on 163 incidents in Chico alone.
Gridley News is set to make its debut. It is run by the Chico Enterprise-Record. The Gridley Herald - the only other local newspaper for Gridley - closed in August after 137 years.

Hurricane Michael continues to gain strength as it moves toward the United States. The storm is on track to make landfall in the Florida panhandle tomorrow. by then, it could be a category 3 hurricane with wind speeds of well over 110 miles per hour.

Brett Kavanaugh takes his seat on the U.S. Supreme Court today. He was officially sworn in Saturday after a bruising last night. Kavanaugh took the oath of office again in a ceremony at the white house. Kavanaugh told the gathering that he will strive to keep politics out of the court's decisions.
