Sun Fire Update

The Sun Fire east of Red Bluff is nearly 4,000 acres and 40 percent contained. There is an evacuation advisory for Stice and Adreni roads and an evacuation warning for the Hogs Back Road area.

Butte County and PG&E Reach Settlement 

PG&E will pay Butte County $1.5 million in a settlement over a wildfire started by the company's powerlines this time last year. The money will be used to create an Enhanced Fire Prevention Program. 

Trinity County Environment Health Group Holds Meeting on Hazmat Spill

Today the Trinity County Environmental Health group is holding a meeting to answer questions about a recent hazmat spill. It's happening at the Burnt Ranch Fire Station at 9 a.m. The group says three different pesticides from an illegal pot grow may have spilled into the Trinity River. The site is just off Underwood Mountain Road in the Burnt Ranch Area. It is now under quarantine. Community members are asked to use a water filter.

Daughter Helps Police in Redding Standoff

Redding police say a suspect's daughter helped end a standoff. Police say Louie Ortiz has a felony warrant for his arrest. Officers surrounded his r-v Sunday afternoon, as Ortiz refused to exit for 45 minutes. His daughter arrived on the scene and began yelling at him to surrender himself. Police say Ortiz came out within minutes and apologized to his daughter before his arrest. 

White House Ceremony for Justice Brett Kavanaugh

Tonight, President Trump will hold a ceremony at the white house for his new supreme court justice. Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts and retired Justice Anthony Kennedy over the weekend. Republicans and Democrats are hoping his contentious confirmation motivates their supporters to get to the polls in November's midterm elections.
