Man Stabbed in the Leg After Suspects Attempt to Enter Chico Party
Chico police are investigating a stabbing at a house party. It happened on West Sixth and Ivy Streets around 11 p.m. Thursday. A 21-year-old man was stabbed several times in the leg. Police are searching for five suspects.


Redding Parolee Firearm Arrest
Redding police say they arrested a parolee for threatening people with a fake gun. Police say Anthony Parks was pointing the gun at passing cars at Safeway. Police say Parks had just been arrested twice at the end of September but released both times due to space issues.


Work Begins to Expand Shasta County Jail
To prevent more repeat offenders from being released early for space issues, expansion is on the way for the Shasta County Jail. It will have more than a hundred new beds. The jail expansion project won’t be until the end of this year.


Gridley Woman Sentenced in Fatal Hit-and-Run
A Gridley woman involved in a deadly hit-and-run has received her four-month sentence from a Butte County judge. Marie Montez plead no contest to the crime that killed 48-year-old Maria Gomez on Easter in Gridley.


Redding Ranked 4th in Country for Car Thefts
The insurance website “Insureify” has named Redding the fourth worst city in the entire country for car thefts. It is also the top California city to make that list.


Chico Heat Suspended Indefinitely
The Chico Heat will not be back next season. The “Great West” League and the team both announced on Thursday that they are suspending operations indefinitely. The team’s management says it was the league that decided to pull the plug because some teams in the league weren’t footing their bills.


Senate Advances Brett Kavanaugh’s Nomination, Final Vote Likely Over the Weekend 
The Senate voted 51 to 49 in a procedural vote to the confirmation process of Supreme Court Nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh. The Senate could vote over the weekend whether to put Kavanaugh in the highest court of the land. Kavanaugh acknowledged in an op-ed that he might’ve been too emotional during last week’s hearing, but asserted he is an even kneeled impartial judge.
