Shooting at Lassen Villa Apartments

Chico police are searching for the suspect of a shooting at an apartment complex. It happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the area Lassen lassen Villa Apartments. Police say they received calls of a person shooting at a car. No one was injured and a suspect has not been found at this time. 

Controlled Burn in Magalia

Cal Fire is conducting an eight-acre controlled burn at the Butte Fire Center on Steiffer Road in Magalia today. Tt will start at 9 a.m. and last most of the day. Smoke should be visible in northern Butte County. Cal Fire also wants to remind everyone that, despite the rain, a burn ban is still in effect for all unincorporated areas of Butte County. 

Last Day to Apply for Carr Fire Disaster Loans

Today is the last day for Carr fire victims to apply for disaster loans. The Small Business Administration approved more than $30 million in loans for victims who have already applied. Federal agencies will remain in the area until assistance is no longer needed. 

Crash on Highway 273

Redding police are investigating a crash on Highway 273 overnight. They say a man was walking outside of the crosswalk on south Bonneyview Road when he was hit by two cars. He is listed in critical condition this morning. Police say the second driver left the scene. They are working to determine if that driver knew they hit a person in order for this to be a hit and run investigation. 

Search Continues for Siskiyou County Man

The search continues for a missing Siskiyou County man. Crews found 46-year-old Jason Cantrall's abandoned pick up truck along Forest Road, south of Wards Fork Gap. He was last seen in the Beaver Creek area of Klamath River Sunday night.

Chico Officially Declares a Shelter Crisis 

Chico has officially declared a shelter crisis. Butte County will split $4.9 million of state funds for homeless services. The county of Butte and the cities of Gridley and Oroville have already declared a shelter crisis. The town of paradise is considering it. 

City Council Approves Funding for Chico Police Street Crimes Unit

City Council has approved funding for the Chico police Street Crimes Unit. It will pay for the initial money need to put the officers through the academy and keep them working on the unit year the council did not, however, approve the wages. It will decide that when city leaders draft next years budget.

Coffee With a Cop 

This morning you've got a chance to have coffee with a cop. From 9 - 10 a.m. Chico police officers will be taking part in this event at various coffee shops around town. Some of these include Brooklyn Bagels, Chico Coffee Company and The Grateful Bean. 

Candlelight Walk in Red Bluff 

Tonight in Red Bluff there will be a candlelight walk to remember those who lost their lives to domestic violence. Tt starts at 7 p.m. at the Tehama County Courthouse.

It was nice to receive some rain and mountain snow around northern California late Sunday and early Monday. Thankfully a change to our overall weather pattern is underway, and many more chances of rain are coming!
