Chico police say 25-year-old Justin Melton of Oroville was seen driving recklessly refusing to pull over for police. As he continued driving with officers in pursuit, he hit and damaged a traffic light. He was then arrested.
One person has been hospitalized with serious burns after a water truck caught fire in Butte County. It happened yesterday on a rural road near Berry Creek. Cal Fire got a call around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday and by the time crews arrived the fire was out. The driver was flown to a nearby hospital to be treated for burns.
People are protesting a nearby new facility that is housing sex offenders in Los Molinos. Protestors that gathered yesterday say the rehab building is too close to the high school a half a mile away. The Elijah House accepts sex offenders if they committed an offense while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Authorities are looking into whether human remains found at a burned home in Concow are that of a missing woman. Experts from Chico State's Anthropology Department are helping identify the remains.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office is investigating video of an eight-year-old Chico Boy being handcuffed and surrounded by officers. Sheriff Honea said deputies tried to restrain him before putting him in handcuffs. The boy's father says his son has an anti-social disorder and plans to file charges.
