Redding Man Sentenced to 25 Years

Fred Sanderson of Redding has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison. Prosecutors say he admitted to attempted murder and kidnapping. This stems from a November assault of a woman he left overnight in a snowy Eskimo Hill. She was found by a family looking for a Christmas tree. His accomplice, Johanna Knighten, was sentenced last month to more than 14 years in prison. 

Anderson Man Sentenced for Assault of Police Officer

Eric Hancock was sentenced to more than five years for the assault of an Anderson police officer. He reportedly tried to sell heroin to an officer at the factory outlets in early August. He ended up hitting a police car with his own car during a chase. 

100 New Jobs Opened in Redding

The Smart Business Resource Center has opened 100 new jobs in Redding. The positions are a result of various clean up efforts from the Carr Fire. The jobs involve debris removal, tree clean up and repairs of trails and roads. 

Alton Facciuto Declared Mentally Competent to Stand Trial 

Alton Facciuto has been declared mentally competent to stand trial. He's accused of strangling his mother to death in January. 

Nor-Cal Think Pink Day

It's NorCal Think Pink Day.  Turle Bay it's one of 35 different locations you can pick up a free "Think Pink" bag for breast cancer awareness. The Sundial Bridge will be lit up pink at 5 p.m. tonight to celebrate. 

Second Batch of Shasta Strong IPA Released

The popular Shasta Strong IPA will be re-released. The collaboration between five local breweries supports Carr Fire recovery. The first batch, which sold out within hours, raised $30,000. 

Shasta County Prowlers Chased Down and Captured 

Police say two prowlers were chased down and captured early this morning. It happened at around 1 .m. in the area of Creekside Street and Mullen Parkway. Officers found a truck with a shattered window and the engine tampered with. John Beard was pepper sprayed during a chase on foot and Visai Mokthaphathai was chased through a canal of knee-high water.
