OSHA Investigates Work-Related Death in Los Molinos
OSHA is investigating the crushing death of a worker at Crain Walnut Shelling in Los Molinos. It happened around a machine called a bin dumper. Employees at the factory tell Action News Now the equipment is a safety hazard because it was not installed correctly. OSHA says apart from the death investigation it may issue citations for violations of workplace safety.


Man Accused of Murdering His Mother in Corning
A Corning man is facing first-degree murder charges for the death of his mother. Prosecutors say Erik Deno killed Angelika Deno and hid her body in a garbage bin outside their home Monday. He did not enter a plea while in court Thursday. He will be back in court next week.


Palo Cedro Man Practicing Without License Faces Charges
The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office says a Palo Cedro man has been practicing without a license. Steven Davis is now facing felony charges.


Carr Fire Survivors Handed Water Bills, Despite Homes Destroyed
Several community members in Old Shasta say even though their homes were destroyed by the Carr Fire they are still getting water bills. Some as high as $300. The water district tells Action News Now it’s due to inactive fees but residents say they are not getting answers.


Carr Furnishings Close Saturday
On Saturday, the furniture shop set up for Carr Fire victims is set to close. It will be open for the last time from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.


Asphalt Cowboys Community Barbeque
The Asphalt Cowboys annual community barbeque takes place this weekend. The event will be held on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Lake Redding Park. Proceeds go to support the 2018 Redding Rodeo week.


Washington Post Journalist Murdered?
The State Department is asking Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the U.S. to return from a trip to his country with information about what happened to missing journalist Jamal Khash-Oggi. He disappeared more than a week ago after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Turkish officials say he was killed. Saudi officials deny the charge.
