Horseshoe Fire Update

Cal Fire says the Horseshoe Fire in Upper Bidwell Park is now 85 percent contained. Firefighters hope to have it fully contained by noon. It is five acres in the area of Alligator hole, north of Pinnacle Heights Court. Cal Fire says no homes are threatened.

Corning Murder Suspect in Court Today

Erik Deeno will face a judge for the first time in Corning. He is suspected of killing a woman at a home on Marty Court and then stuffing her body in a trash can outside. The victim's identity and how they are connected has not yet been released.

Deadly Crash in Oroville

Action News Now is working to learn more about a deadly crash overnight. It happened south of Oroville, just off Foothill Boulevard and Lower Wyandotte Road. The California Highway Patrol says four people were standing outside a parked car on the side of the road when a driver hit them. One person was killed and two others were injured. 

Reward Offered for Suspect in Arson Fires in Cottonwood

A reward is now being offered for the suspect in an possile arson fire. Crews found a body inside a burned Cottonwood home sunday morning. Sheriffs later identified the body as 86-year old Barcie Miller. Investigators suspect this is connected to a string of suspicious fires in the city.

OSHA Investigating Factory Death in Los Molinos 

OSHA is investigating a factory death in Los Molinos. The Department of Industrial Relations says a worker was crushed in an accident at a Crain Walnut Shelling facility. The unidentified man died Saturday night.

Chico City Attorney Negotiating Settlement in Police Shooting

The Chico City Attorney is negotiating a possible settlement. Police shot 19-year-old Breanne Sharpe after a chase with officers in 2013. Her mother says excessive force was used. Investigators say officers fired at Sharpe's car when she tried to run them over. A jury trial is scheduled for next April.
