Homes Around Chico State Torn Down
Chico State is tearing down nine homes along Warner Street to make way for a parking structure and new building. Three homeowners, however, have yet to sell. Chico State officials say they are continuing discussions with those homeowners.


Firefighters Warn of Trees Falling in Upper Bidwell Park in Chico
Firefighters are warning that the “Stoney Fire” in Upper Bidwell Park may cause trees to fall. They say flames have hollowed and weakened several trees. Upper Park remains closed Wednesday morning. The fire is 93 percent contained.


Assistance Center Opens for ‘Klamathon Fire’
An assistance center is now open in Yreka for those impacted by the “Klamathon Fire.” More than 30 homes were destroyed and one man lost his life in the fire. It is burning near the Oregon border, south of Hornbrook. The fire as of Wednesday morning is now 96 percent contained at just over 38,000 acres.


Online Clothing Store Hires in Chico
Web-based business “Third Love” will hold a launch party Wednesday evening in Chico. The company employs 140 people and is seeking to double by hiring local employees. They operate at a location in the Chico airport business park.


Heat Prompts Cooling Center to Open in Shasta Lake
The triple-digit temperatures have prompted a cooling center to open up in the City of Shasta Lake. That is at the John Beaudet Community Center, it opens at noon Wednesday.


President Trump Clarifies Putin Summit Remarks
President Trump is clarifying his remarks Monday about Russian meddling in the 2016 election ignited a firestorm. The president said Tuesday he accepts U.S. Intelligence evaluations that Moscow interfered in the election and claims he misspoke in Helsinki. A special one-on-one interview with the president will air Wednesday night on the CBS Evening News at 6:30 p.m. PST.
