Couple Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Fire Truck

A couple is accused of stealing a fire truck from Sacramento County and leading officers on a high-speed chase over the weekend. The CHP says the suspects raced through five counties all the way to Oroville. It ended on Highway 70 near Yankee Hill. The male suspect said he stole the truck to get mental health treatment, while the woman claimed she was kidnapped but officers on the scene determined that was false. Both are facing several felonies.

Cal Fire: Don’t Fly Drones near Fires
Cal Fire is sending out a reminder to not fly drones near wildfires, they say aircrews were forced to land while battling the “Swamp Fire” on the Butte and Plumas County line Sunday. Cal Fire tweeted a reminder saying “If you fly, we can’t! Please keep the drones on the ground.”

Firefighter Killed Battling Fire near Yosemite Park
Cal Fire says a fire equipment operator was killed fighting the “Ferguson Fire” in Yosemite National Park Saturday morning. He was 36-year-old Braden Varney, he is survived by his wife and two small children.

‘Stoney Fire’ Latest
The “Stoney Fire” in upper Bidwell Park in Chico is now 75 percent contained as of Monday at 956 acres. The park remained closed Monday morning, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Siskiyou County Fire Nearly Contained
Fire crews are hoping for full containment on the “Klamathon Fire” Monday. It is now 95 percent contained, Cal Fire crews are working to help residents in Hornbrook regroup. Some firefighters even helped a couple install a new air conditioning unit. Residents are reminded that running water is still contaminated in the area. Crews are working to treat the water so it can be deemed safe.

Husband Allegedly Lights Wife on Fire
Chico police have arrested 36-year-old Steve Ramirez, they say he doused his wife in gasoline and set her on fire Friday night. The victim has been flown to a burn center out of the area. Her condition as of Monday morning as unknown at this time.

Trump and Putin Summit Meeting
President Trump meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki Monday. In an interview with CBS News, Trump said he has “low expectations” for the meeting. Some lawmakers called on the president to cancel the summit after Special Counsel Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian military intelligence officers for their efforts to undermine the 2016 Presidential Election.
