Camp Fire Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Paradise

A Camp Fire Disaster Recovery Center opens in Paradise on Wednesday. It will be at the Creative Learning Center located at 1080 Ewald Court. It is open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Camp Fire Debris Removal Workshop for Contractors

Calley contractors exchange will hold a Camp Fire Debris Removal Workshop for local contractors. Topics include how to offer services, insurance and phase two of the cleanup. The event is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at East Avenue Church in Chico.

Redding Community to Discuss South City Park Improvements

Redding community members plan to discuss ways to improve South City Park. The public is welcome to attend the meeting at Redding City Hall at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. 

Traffic Alerts: Highway 299

There are some traffic alerts on Highway 299 in Shasta and Trinity counties. Culvert repair work is underway near the county line and the highway is under repair at Buckhorn following storm damage. Plus, emergency rockslide work continues with one-way traffic control between Helena and Big Barr.

Erin Brockovich and Camp Fire Survivors Protested PG&E at State Capitol

Camp Fire survivors joined celebrity activist Erin Brockovich to protest PG&E bankruptcy. They worry that those affected by the 2017 and 2018 wildfires will not be paid damages. Ultimately, the decision is up to Governor Gavin Newsom.

Partial Government Shutdown: Day 33

The partial government shutdown is now in its 33rd day. This week, the Senate is considering a pair of competing bills aimed at ending it. Each will be voted on Thursday, however, it appears neither one has enough support to advance.

The Carr Fire: Six Months Later

The Carr Fire broke out in Shasta County six months ago today.
