Davis Police Officer Killed in Shooting

Davis police are investigating the shooting death of 22-year-old officer Natalie Corona. Police say a gunman killed her in downtown Davis following a car crash. He later turned the gun on himself during a manhunt. Police have not released his identity. 

Valley Contractors Give Free Tools to Contractors Impacted by Camp Fire

Valley Contractors Exchange is partnering with Apex Tools to give free tools to contractors impacted by the Camp Fire. The giveaway is happening Friday from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The address is 629 Entler Avenue, Building 4, Suite 32, in Chico. Contractors need to show paperwork that they are an employed contractor receiving assistance.

Thousands of Federal Workers to Miss Paychecks Friday

Friday, hundreds of thousands of federal workers will miss their first paychecks as the partial government shutdown enters day 21. President Trump says he could declare a national emergency to divert pentagon funds for his border wall.

Butte County Sheriff's Office Identifies Camp Fire Evacuee that Died in Hospital

The Butte County Sheriff's Office has identified a Camp Fire evacuee who died from pneumonia while staying at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. She was 62-year-old Alice Cummings of Magalia. The Red Cross says she was rushed to the hospital Saturday morning before she died.

Debris Clean-Up Application Deadline Approaching

The deadline to apply for debris clean-up service is Jan. 31. Those looking to apply must complete a right-of-entry form. We have a link to download the form in the link. 

Man Accused of Murder on Chico State Campus Heads to Trial

A man charged with killing a woman on Chico State's campus will head to trial. Prosecutors say Samuel Johnson waived his preliminary hearing this week. He is accused of beating Linda Blacksten to death in October outside of Kendall Hall. He will be back in court on Jan. 23. 

Cal Fire Captain Accused of Sexual Assault Heading to Trial

The case of a Chico Cal Fire Captain accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a party is headed to trial. A judge decided this Wednesday that there was enough reasonable suspicion for Kevin Fleming face a jury. His trial will begin on the Jan. 30. 

Redding City Identity Project Moving Forward

What is known as the Redding City Identity project is moving forward, with some major development projects. The group narrowed proposals down to 10 projects which would begin this year. That includes an "Umbrella Alley," a downtown mural, live street music and a new river-front amphitheater.
