Portion of I-5 Closes After Big Rig Crash

All lanes of Southbound I-5 were closed at the Fawndale Exit in Redding this morning after Caltrans says a big rig driver crashed, blocking the highway. Caltrans says that one lane is now open to traffic, but the two other lanes remain blocked by the big rig. 

Judge Proposed PG&E Re-inspect Electric Grid

A judge is proposing that PG&E re-inspect it's entire electric grid and cut power during windy weather. The goal is to prevent wildfires. The same San Francisco judge is overseeing the criminal sentence against the utility for a deadly 2010 gas explosion.

Camp Fire Debris Removal Meeting

Local agencies will be holding a Camp Fire Debris Removal Meeting in Durham. That will be at Durham Memorial Hall on the Midway from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

Butte County Hands Out Free Straw Wattles

Butte County is handing out free straw wattles to help control erosion in the Camp Fire burn areas. You can pick those up at Paradise Alliance Church on Clark Road and the Yankee Hill Hardware store. 

President Trump Threatens to Stop FEMA Funding for Wildfire Assistance

We are working to learn what a pull to FEMA funding will mean to wildfire-damaged areas. The president made the announcement Wednesday, saying the money will stop unless the state changes its forestry practices. Action News Now reached out to FEMA representatives, who say they are waiting to hear back from their national headquarters.

Gov. Newsom to Unveil Proposed Budget Plan

Governor Gavin Newsom will unveil his proposed budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. He is expected to ask for more than $300 million for wildfire relief. He is also expected to make changes to the DMV, and pledge money for childhood education and health care.

Anderson Police Searching for Wanted Felon

Anderson police are searching for Robert Goucher Thursday morning. He has three felony warrants for his arrest for drug and theft charges. Anyone with information is asked to call Anderson police. 

President Trump to Visit Southern Border

President Trump heads for the southern border in Texas as the partial government shutdown over the border wall reaches day 20. An estimated 800,000 federal employees on furlough, or are working without pay.
