Chico Opens Temporary Warming Center 

Chico has issued a Code Blue alert and opened a temporary warming center to protect people. It is at Depot Park on Cedar Street, between Third and Fifth Streets. It closed at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The tent can shelter around 50 people. The city will put up a second tent if needed. 

Shasta County Sheriff's Office Investigating Homicide in Anderson

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office says a man killed his roommate on Happy Valley Road in Anderson. Deputies arrested Michael Oconnell who confessed to shooting his roommate during an argument. Action News Now is working to learn the victim's identity. 

Man Sentenced for Assaulting Mercy Medical Center Security Guard

A judge sentenced Christopher Cook to six years in prison for assaulting a Mercy Medical Center security guard with a bike chain in Redding. Cook pled guilty just this week. Prosecutors say Cook had just been released from prison for another assault conviction. 

Redding Police Search for Man Accused of Child Molestation

Redding police are searching for Bo Nunn who is wanted on multiple charges of child molestation. Anyone with information is asked to call Redding police at (530) 225-4200. 

Anderson Panel to Discuss 'Forests, Fires and Politics'

Thursday, hundreds of logging experts will gather in Anderson to talk about fighting wildfires with forestry practices. The panel is called "Forests, Fires and Politics." It takes place at 1 p.m. inside Fusaro Hall at the Shasta District Fairgrounds.

4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Humboldt County

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake hit just east of Blue Lake in Humboldt County Wednesday night. The sheriff's office says there was no damage. Around 10 earthquakes hit near Petrolia and Eureka within a 24-hour span over the weekend. The biggest was a 4.3 magnitude earthquake.
