Chico City Council to Discuss Emergency Shelter Tuesday

The Chico City Council will discuss a shelter emergency due to the cold. They will consider creating pop-up shelters with room for less than 100 people a night.

Chico City Council to Discuss Temporary Housing for Camp Fire Evacuees

The Chico City Council will also be addressing the housing crisis from the Camp Fire. They will consider setting up FEMA trailers on Hegan Lane in South Chico. The meeting is at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. 

Butte County Board of Supervisors to Discuss Local Hazard Mitigation Plan

Tuesday, the Butte County Board of Supervisors plans to discuss its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. Officials are working to update the county's 2014 plan against floods, wildfires and severe weather. The meeting is open to the public. It starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday night at the Board's Chambers in Oroville.

Paradise Town Council and Butte County Board of Supervisors Vote to Repeal Temporary Housing Ordinance

Hundreds of Camp Fire survivors can no longer stay in temporary homes on their properties. Both the Paradise Town Council and the Butte County Board of Supervisors had to revoke the ordinances that allowed them to stay because of the threat of FEMA funding being pulled. Property owners will be allowed back once the debris is cleared. 

Man Arrested for Hijacking Amtrak Train While Drunk

The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office says this man Dylan Baldini hijacked an Amtrak train while drunk. The train was going from Mount Shasta to Dunsmuir. Baldini reportedly activated the train whistle and tried to put the train in emergency-stop mode. Crews said the situation put everyone on board in danger.

Highway 70 Closed due to Winter Weather Conditions

Highway 70 is closed to all traffic due to winter weather conditions that caused several big rigs to spin out at Hallelujah Junction, where Highway 70 meets with Route 395 near Beckwourth Pass in Plumas. 

I-80 Closed due to White-Out Conditions

I-80 is still closed Tuesday morning between Applegate and Nevada due to white-out conditions.
