FEMA has changed location for Camp Fire evacuee trailers and debris sites. City councilmember Sean Morgan said the lot Eaton Road and the Barber Site will no longer be used. We are working to learn more about what sites they plan to use instead.
Camp Fire Business Recovery Forum Monday
Tuesday, the Chico Chamber of Commerce will host a Camp Fire Business Recovery Forum at Bidwell Presbyterian Church. They'll talk about how local business owners can get back on their feet after the disaster from 10 a.m. to noon.
Tuesday night, Chico City Council will meet to reconsider building tiny homes that would be available for survivors of the Camp Fire. The council first approved Simplicity Village last month as transitional housing. However, it rejected the use of land on Notre Dame Boulevard for the project. Now, all of that will be reconsidered by the council.
Another item the council will consider is opening a 24-hour low-barrier shelter. Council members say the city's current shelters offer fewer than 300 beds on any given night. Given the rise in need, council members want to consider a Low-Barrier Shelter to offer up to 200 additional beds. The meeting is Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in the Chico City Council chambers.
