MAGALIA, Calif. - Butte County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an area in Magalia for reports of a welfare check, which resulted in a drug bust.
On Dec. 19, around 1 p.m., deputies found Derrick Watters, 39, slumped over the steering wheel of his truck in the area of Curtis Ct. and West Park Dr. in Magalia.
The deputies determined that he was not in need of medical attention, but was under the influence of controlled substances. They conducted a search and located drug paraphernalia including methamphetamine pipe and hypodermic syringes containing what was suspected to be heroin.
In the truck, deputies found 20 grams of heroin, four grams of methamphetamine and 26 individual packages of the synthetic opioid Suboxone.
Watters was arrested and booked into Butte County Jail for possession of narcotics for sale possession of controlled substance for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail is set at $41,000.
