CONCOW, Calif. -The Butte County Sheriff's Office arrested a wanted felon living in a tent on a property burned by the Camp Fire in Concow.
Deputies found Alex Bettencourt, 39, of San Jose, living inside a tent on a property on Granite Ridge Road in Concow Thursday.
Inside the tent, deputies found four firearms. One of the guns was a BB gun, one was an illegal, short-barreled shotgun, one was a handgun reported stolen, and one was a .22 caliber rifle.
Deputies also found a switch-blade knife and a throwing star, which is illegal in California. There was also a motorcycle that had been reported stolen.
Bettencourt is a convicted felon, and not allowed to have firearms or ammunition. He also had two felony warrants out of his arrest.
The Sheriff's Office charged Betten court with three felonies of being a felon in possession of a firearm, a felony charge of being a prohibited person from possessing ammunition, and two felony charges of receiving stolen property.
He was also charged with possession of a short-barreled shotgun, a misdemeanor charge of possession of switchblade knife, and possession of a throwing star. He was booked into the Butte County Jail.
