CHICO, Calif. - Chico Police arrested a man on illegal weapons charges and resisting arrest following a disturbance at an apartment complex in the cul de sac of Via La Paz Thursday.
Officers were told 30-year-old Patrick Dowell Rollins may be armed with a rifle. He was wanted on a felony warrant for a weapon violation and is banned from legally possessing firearms because he's a convicted felon.
After establishing a perimeter, Police brought in K9 officer Kimbo to help make the arrest.
They say Rollins came out of an apartment and took off on foot, and so Kimbo was deployed and after chasing Rollins down and delivering a bite officers were able to take him into custody.
Investigators say Rollins had a loaded 9mm Uzi down the front of his pants and a loaded 9 mm handgun in a holster on his belt.
He was taken to the hospital to be treated for the dog bite, then was booked on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and resisting arrest as well as his outstanding felony warrant for a charge also related to firearm possession.
