BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - Butte County Public Health provided its weekly update on the COVID-19 outbreak Thursday morning.
Butte County Public Health officials are urging residents to comply with state orders after identifying a major spike in cases among individuals between the ages of 18 to 24.
In a news release, Butte County Public Health (BCPH) said “Since August 24, 2020, Butte County Public Health has identified major increases in COVID-19 cases in Chico among people ages 18-24 living near the CSU, Chico campus. As the Labor Day weekend approaches, BCPH urges all residents, especially those ages 18-24, to comply with State Orders and avoid all gatherings and parties with anyone outside of your immediate household.”
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Butte County between Monday, Aug. 24, and Monday, Aug. 31 was 557. Of those cases, 464 are from the Chico area, according to BCPH. Click here to read more
