Virtual teen and kindergarten centers to open for Shasta County families

Since Governor Gavin Newsom ordered all residents in California to stay-at-home, one organization is stepping up and offering some virtual assistance for teens and children.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. – Since Governor Gavin Newsom ordered all residents in California to stay-at-home, one organization is stepping up and offering some virtual assistance for teens and children.

Pathways to Hope for Children will start offering a Virtual Teen Center and Kindergarten & TK Connection starting Monday, March 23 using the web-based Zoom Conference platform.

Virtual Kindergarten & TK Connection

  • Monday through Friday from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Primary audience: Parents and children in kindergarten and TK

Virtual Teen Center

  • Monday through Friday from Noon to 6 p.m.
  • Primary audience: Youth ages 13 to 17 years-old

Internet connection is required for screen sharing, but participants without the internet can also phone in for audio portions.

This will give Shasta County youth and families the opportunity to gather daily to interact with each other, take part in activities, share parenting tips, and participate in scheduled programming. Participants will have access to virtual meeting places on their computers, smartphones, or telephones.

Highlights for the Virtual Teen Center include mindfulness exercises, games, and facilitated discussions about the current state of affairs. For the Kindergarten and TK Connections, highlights include activities, First 5 Shasta coordinated events, resources for parents, a time for kids to visit together using the computer, reading time and more.

Daily schedules will be posted on two Facebook pages, Pathways to Hope for Children and Anderson Teen Center.
