CHICO, CALIF. - The Veterans Garden Project is offering a free plant giveaway to Veterans and their families.
The group will hand out veggie starts for winter victory gardens at AG Mart, 1334 Park Avenue in Chico from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Veterans Day.

Project volunteers also deliver fresh produce regularly to the V.A. Clinic and they're working to re-establish a local Community Garden for veterans.
Supporters say it's a way to get outside and promote comradery with fellow Vets and others, and to reconnect with the earth and what it can provide.
The Veterans Garden Project also works to foster environmental stewardship, contribute to food sustainability and food security, and produce a supplemental food source for veterans and their families.
Organizers say donations are welcome. You can donate at www.nvcf.org/funds/Veterans-Garden-Project.
