Veterans Day celebration in Chico

Events across Butte County took place on Nov. 11to honor those who have served, and are serving, in the U.S. military.

CHICO, Calif. - Events across Butte County took place on Nov. 11to honor those who have served, and are serving, in the U.S. military.

It was a full house at the Chico Elk's Lodge for the 16th annual Veterans Day Program.

The event included a veteran who discussed his father's experiences serving in World War I.

"We honor all veterans because of the jobs they do overseas and everything else, my father was a World War One Veteran, so this is a special day for us, we always do Veteran's Day for him and everyone else," said Gary Imhoff.

In addition, the Chico Community Concert Band performed World War II era music.

Last year the organizing committee for this event cancelled the program because of the Camp Firw,

Dry weather, sunny skies, warmer temperatures, and gusty north winds will drive elevated fire danger today. We'll have even stronger winds, but cooler temperatures on Tuesday. Fire danger will remain elevated. There will also be a chance for light showers in the Sierra on Tuesday and Wednesday.
