CHICO, Calif.-- Initially postponed by the Camp Fire, the second annual Veteran's Day 5K Hoorah was held at Chico State early Saturday morning.

Mike Guzzi, a 20 year veteran from the Navy, said, "I wanted to come back and give back to the veteran organizations and the campus."

He is the director of facilities on campus and wanted to give the participants an opportunity to run through the university campus and see the beautiful grounds and facilities.

The Veteran's Day 5K Hoorah had 106 participants and raised nearly $9,000, doubling the amount from last year.

All of the funds go directly to veteran students and organizations at Chico State.

The event had been rescheduled to Saturday due to the Camp Fire.

The first of two storms moved over northern California late last night and this morning, but our weather has quieted for now. More rain showers will fall Saturday, but heavier rain and snow with stronger wind arrives Sunday.
