Get ready for more active weather across Northern California for your Friday forecast. Get your umbrella ready, give yourself extra time to get to where you need to go, and be prepared for gusty winds. There are several watches and warnings in place for your Friday. A Wind Advisory is currently in place in the valley and will stay in place through 8pm tonight. South winds will be up to 35mph, with gusts up to around 45mph this afternoon. Down tree branches, power outages, debris in roads, and travel imacts to high profile vehicles are all possible due to the wind. A Flash Flood Watch is going into effect at 3pm, and will last through your Friday evening for the North end of the valley. The biggest flooding concern will be around the burn scars in Shasta County. Afternoon thunderstorms could produce heavy rain that could result in some flash flooding in that area. A Winter Weather Advisory will be in place for the Sierra from 5pm this evening until 5am Saturday for heavy snowfall down to around 6000'. Travel impacts will be likely in the Sierra tonight, and you're encouraged to avoid mountain travel if you're able to.

Most of the showers from yesterday were in the far Northern zones of our area, but more widespread wet weather is expected today. Showers are expected to spread across most of our region by our morning commute, and will become heavier by around 10 or 11am. Widespread heavy rain, and the chance for thunderstorms will be on tap for your afternoon. The bulk of the showers will start to fizzle out early to mid evening, but there is a decent chance for showers and thunderstorms continuing in Shasta County tonight. Temperatures have dipped into the low to mid 50's in the valley overnight, and mountain areas are starting out in the 30's to 40's this morning. High temperatures will climb into the high 50's to low 60's in the valley this afternoon, and in the mid 40's to low 50's in the mountains later today.

More showers will be in store for your weekend, but they are not expected to be as widespread as today. The Northern portions of the state will have the best chance for showers through your weekend, with less of a chance South of Tehama County. Most of the heavier showers will stay in that same area on Sunday, with light showers possible in areas of Glenn and Butte Counties. We'll be warming up through your weekend, with highs climbing back into the high 60's to low 70's in the valley on Sunday. Models are split on the threat of showers heading into next week. The current outlook brings showers back to most of Northern California on Monday and more showers will be possible through the middle of next week.
