Redding, Calif.-Help is on the way for those who need food and support.

United Way of Northern California gave out a total of $50,000 to help with food, shelter, and supplies.

Nine local agencies benefitted from this help. Some of the local organization that received help include The Good News Rescue Mission, the Disability Action Center, and Happy Camp Community Action.

United Way of Northern California says this is the second round of grants that it’s awarded to organizations stepping up to help their community during the pandemic.

Larry Olmstead, president and CEO of United Way of Northern California tells Action News Now this has been possible thanks to community donations and fundraisers.

“This is definitely the type of crisis where everybody is impacted and everybody plays a role in terms of the solutions,” says Olmstead.

United Way of Northern California is prioritizing organizations helping out seniors, the homeless, as well as local food pantries, just to name a few.

So far, the organization has provided a total of $97,000 in grants to 16 local agencies.

Just last week, they awarded a total of $47,000 dollars to local organizations.

United Way of Northern California says they will award a third round of grants in the next two weeks.
