Chico, Calif. - United Way of Northern California is teaming up with Target to host a "ThanksGiving Back" shopping event for children impacted by the Camp Fire.
The shopping spree takes place on Friday when the kids and their parents will team up with a volunteer to spend a $150 gift card. For privacy, it will not be open to the public. The participants have already been selected.
United Way of Northern California Development Director Desiree Gonzalez said, "Even a year after the Camp Fire, there are so many who continue to experience the fallout from this disaster, we are seeing so many people still displaced and trying to recover a sense of normalcy. We hope this spreads some holiday cheer to some of those who lost everything."
The shopping spree is paid for by a grant from Chico Children's Endowment, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations.
United Way's Redding location is also holding ThanksGiving Back at the Redding Target on the same day.
