Person taken to the hospital following Downtown Chico shooting

Chico Police are searching for a gunman who opened fire at downtown City Plaza Thursday morning.

CHICO, CALIF. - Chico Police Department is searching for a gunman who opened fire at downtown City Plaza Thursday morning.

Officers said one person went to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police received a report of a shooting at 5:01 a.m. when they said a man in a white truck pulled up and parked the truck. The suspect then got out of the truck and fired multiple rounds before returning to the truck and driving off. 

Investigators blocked off 5th St. between Main St. and Broadway to question witnesses and process the scene.

The victim is expected to recover.

Police were not able to provide information about the motive of the shooting.

One other person suffered a minor injury but was not taken to the hospital.
