REDDING, Calif. -- Redding Police said two cars dangled over the edge of a Redding parking garage after a hit and run collision Sunday afternoon.

Around 4:04 p.m., Redding Police said officers were sent to the downtown parking structure located at Placer Street at California Street for the report of a collision.

Police said a blue Pontiac G6, registered to Sarah Frederick of Redding, collided with a parked white Ford F-250, registered to Matthew Katsares of Redding.

The Ford was parked near the southeast corner of the parking structure, on the upper level, according to police.

Witnesses reported four occupants of the Pontiac fled the scene prior to the arrival of Officers, and were not located. The Pontiac was subsequently impounded, according to police.

During the collision, police said the Pontiac lifted the rear of Ford and both vehicles came to rest hanging over the edge of the elevated parking structure. The railing to the parking structure, in the area of the collision, was also damaged, according to police.

Police said the collision is currently under investigation. Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact the Redding Police Department.

It was a bright and breezy Friday for northern California, however the wind has been much stronger over Modoc County where a High Wind Warning is in effect through this evening. Stronger wind and cooler air will define our weather Saturday.
