ANDERSON, Calif. – The Anderson home of an elderly citizen was burglarized on Saturday evening and two arrests were made at the scene. The location was the 20000 block of Ballentine Dr.
A report had been made to police at approximately 6:30 p.m. of a possible burglary in progress. Officers saw an open door on the side of the home when they arrived.
Officers were able to contact the homeowner by phone. They said they were told that no one should have been in the home.
When officers entered the home they said they came across 31-year-old Gilbert Reeves and 28-year-old Melissa Katherine Jensen, both of Redding.
Officers made entry into the residence and located Jeremy Gilbert Reeves, age 31, of Redding, and Melissa Katherine Jensen, age 28, of Redding, who they said were "attempting to hide in a bedroom." Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.
Officers said they located additional items of "evidence linking the two suspects to several thefts from vehicles in the neighborhood."
While officers were on scene the elderly homeowner arrived. Officers reported that Reeves attempted to intimidate the homeowner at the scene by “telling them not to press charges.”
According to the Anderson Police Department, Reeves was on CDC parole and had an active warrant for his arrest for violating parole terms.
Officers reported that Reeves and Jensen were arrested for residential burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting/delaying a peace officer, and witness/victim intimidation.
