Two Chico Schools Put on Lockdown After Report of Shots Fired in Area

Two Chico schools were put on lockdown after there were reports of what sounded like gunshots in the area.

UPDATE 2:31 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 - The lockdowns at the schools have been lifted. Officers were not able to find a suspect or evidence of gunshots.

CHICO, Calif. - Two Chico schools were put on lockdown after there were reports of what sounded like gunshots in the area.

At around 11:10 a.m. The Chico Police Department received a call from someone in the area that thought they heard gunshots. This put Blue Oak Charter School and Little Discoveries Preschool on lockdown. 

Officers were in the area searching for the source of the noise and possible suspects.

The lockdown was officially lifted around 11:45 a.m. after officers declared the area safe.
